A case has been filed against prominent musician Salman Ahmad under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly disseminating content deemed hostile toward state institutions.
According to Lahore police, the FIR was lodged at the Defence-A police station. The complaint accuses Salman Ahmad of using his social media platform on X (formerly Twitter), where he has 265.4K followers, to post content considered false, misleading, and inflammatory against national security institutions and the state.
The FIR claims that a police officer on duty personally viewed a post shared by the singer, which allegedly incited hatred and had the potential to create unrest and damage the reputation of state institutions.
Law enforcement officials stated that the shared content falls under violations of the PECA Act, prompting the initiation of legal proceedings against Salman Ahmad.
