Two-State Solution
Saudi Arabia on Sunday strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent remarks regarding the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, denouncing them as a deliberate attempt to shift focus from Israel’s ongoing military campaign.
The Saudi foreign ministry issued a statement rejecting Netanyahu’s comments and reaffirming Riyadh’s steadfast support for Palestinian statehood.
The Kingdom welcomed the widespread rejection of Netanyahu’s remarks by Arab and Islamic nations, emphasizing that this collective stance highlights “the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab and Islamic world.”
Saudi Arabia accused Netanyahu of attempting to “divert attention from the consecutive crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian brothers in Gaza, including ethnic cleansing.”
The statement further criticized what it described as an “extremist occupying mindset,” arguing that Israel has continuously failed to acknowledge the deep-rooted historical, emotional, and legal connections between Palestinians and their homeland. “The Palestinian people are rightful owners of their land, not outsiders or migrants who can be expelled at Israel’s whim,” the statement asserted.
Riyadh also held “extremist elements” responsible for obstructing peace efforts, accusing them of preventing Israel from embracing peace, rejecting coexistence, and dismissing Arab peace initiatives while systematically oppressing Palestinians for over 75 years.
The Kingdom stressed that these forces had long undermined any prospects for a just resolution to the conflict.
Reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian people, Saudi Arabia stated that “the Palestinian people’s rights remain unshakable and cannot be taken away, regardless of how much time passes.”
The statement emphasized that any lasting resolution could only be achieved through reason, diplomacy, and a firm commitment to the two-state solution.
These remarks come at a time of heightened tensions, as Israel continues its large-scale military operations in Gaza.
According to Saudi Arabia, the Israeli campaign has “completely destroyed the territory and killed or injured more than 160,000 people, most of them women and children, without any sense of humanity or moral responsibility.”
The Kingdom reiterated that the only viable path to peace lies in recognizing Palestinian rights and pursuing a just and comprehensive resolution based on the two-state solution.
