QUETTA: A group of armed militants launched an attack at Zhob Cantt after midnight. The security forces retaliated timely and foiled their attempt to enter the garrison area on Sunday night.
Around 2.30 a.m., residents of the area heard heavy shooting and explosions that continued for many hours.
While confirming the terrorist incident in Zhob, officials stated that the armed terrorists commenced their attack from the airport roadside.

Security troops, who were already on high alert, quickly took positions and returned fire.
“Heavy exchange of fire and explosions continued until early morning,” a senior officer in Zhob told the media.
Pakistan and Iran vow to curb cross-border terrorism
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Iran decided to curb cross-border terrorist attacks. Pakistani Army held talks with General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s Chief of Joint Staff. Their summit aimed to strengthen military, educational, defense, and security ties between the two countries.
This was announced in a press release published by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
During the discussion, General Bagheri emphasized the historical ties between the neighboring countries as a foundation for expanding bilateral relations and collaboration across numerous fields, according to the Tehran Times on Sunday.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering military relations, promoting educational interactions, and strengthening joint defense and security efforts at the regional level.
General Bagheri warmly welcomed Syed Asim Munir, expressing hope that the visit would yield valuable outcomes and serve as a basis for effective decision-making.
He commended Munir’s pleasant and beneficial experience in Pakistan’s armed forces, expressing optimism that the two nations’ existing brotherly relationship will greatly improve their engagement during Munir’s tenure.
Furthermore, General Bagheri emphasized the importance of regional security being provided by the region’s countries.
