Seven security personnel were reportedly martyred, and 15 others injured, in an attack by unidentified gunmen on the Shah Mardan checkpost in Kalat’s Johan area late Friday night. The deceased and injured were transported to Quetta for medical treatment and post-mortem procedures, Levies officials confirmed.
The martyred personnel were identified as Naik Bakhat Zameen, Lance Naik Ghulam Ishaq, Lance Naik Abdul Qadeer, Sepoy Rizwan, Sepoy Waqas, Sepoy Ali Abbas, and Sepoy Saqib Rehman.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that further details would be shared soon.
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party President and Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act of terrorism. He paid tribute to the fallen security personnel, emphasizing their sacrifice for the nation.
“Once again, security forces have laid down their lives to protect the motherland. Pakistan remains resolute in eliminating the scourge of terrorism,” Khan remarked, expressing his condolences to the martyrs’ families and praying for the injured.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed profound grief over the loss of lives, condemning the attack and extending condolences to the bereaved families while wishing a speedy recovery for those injured.
