ISLAMABAD: On January 4, 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering every citizen in society by ensuring accessible education for all children, including those with visual impairments.
In a special message on World Braille Day, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of Braille as an essential tool for inclusion, knowledge, and independence for visually impaired individuals around the world.
He highlighted that the government would take concrete steps to support visually impaired students by providing Braille textbooks, enhancing teacher training, and setting up specialized centres dedicated to their education.
These measures are part of a broader initiative to create an educational environment that accommodates the needs of all students, irrespective of their physical challenges.
“On World Braille Day, we stand in solidarity with the global community in celebrating the power of Braille,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz. “Braille is more than just a method of reading and writing; it is a key to unlocking doors of opportunity and enabling independence. It represents the inclusion and equal opportunities that every individual deserves, regardless of their visual abilities.”
