The Sindh government has declared Saturday, March 22, a public holiday for all educational institutions across the province in observance of Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (A.S), according to a notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department (SELD) on Tuesday.
The directive states that all public and private schools, colleges, and universities will remain closed on the 21st of Ramadan. This decision was finalized during a Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.
SELD also shared the notification on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that the closure applies to all institutions operating under the Sindh government’s administrative control.
Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (A.S) commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (A.S), the fourth caliph of Islam and a prominent figure in Islamic history. The day is observed with religious gatherings and special prayers throughout the country.
Meanwhile, regular academic activities are set to resume on Monday, March 24.
