LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the esteemed founder of Sikhism, is being celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Nankana Sahib.
Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and around the world are arriving to participate in the festivities, including over 3,000 yatrees from India, who have arrived through the Wagah border.
Special arrangements have been made to accommodate many visitors during the three-day celebration, from November 13 to 16. Facilities at Gurdwara Janam Asthan include help counters, money exchange services, a mini-hospital, langar, accommodations, and transportation.
Pilgrims from the UK expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception, describing the love and hospitality in Pakistan as overwhelming. “Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is a very brave woman. We will always remember the kindness we received here,” they shared.
In addition, Sikh visitors from New York were greeted with flower petals and garlands upon their arrival at Nankana Sahib.
In Peshawar, an event marking Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary was held with a dignified ceremony attended by a large number of Sikhs. Held at a local hotel, the gathering celebrated Guru Nanak’s message of peace, love, and tolerance. Speakers highlighted his teachings, and a ceremonial cake was cut in his honor.
Additional Secretary Auqaf Abdul Kabar reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of religious minorities.
All arrangements for the birth anniversary celebrations have reportedly been completed.
