The United States has approved a $510 million arms deal with Israel for the sale of munitions guidance kits and related support services, the U.S. State Department confirmed, according to TRT World.
The deal includes:
- 3,845 KMU-558B/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits for BLU-109 bomb bodies
- 3,280 KMU-572 F/B JDAM kits for MK 82 bomb bodies
- Along with engineering, logistics, and technical support, as outlined by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
In its official statement, the DSCA said the proposed sale would strengthen Israel’s ability to respond to current and emerging threats by enhancing the precision and effectiveness of its munitions.
“This proposed sale will enhance Israel’s capability to defend its borders, vital infrastructure, and population centers,” the DSCA noted.
The agency emphasized that the deal aligns with long-standing U.S. policy to support Israel’s security and maintain its defense capabilities, which it said are vital to U.S. national interests in the region.
The statement also clarified that the sale will not alter the military balance in the Middle East, and no additional U.S. personnel will be required to oversee its implementation in Israel.
