LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Kot Addu Power Company Limited (KAPCO) have decided to sponsor rebuilding of charred homes of Christians in Jaranwala.
A mob in Jaranwala set fire many homes of Christians in Jaranwala amid allegations of desecration of the holy Quran.

WAPDA and KAPCO have engaged with the interim government of Punjab to take on the task of reconstructing the houses that were burnt.
Concurrently, WAPDA and KAPCO are actively conducting a survey and maintaining communication with the Punjab government regarding this initiative.
Officials have stated, “WAPDA is coordinating with the district administration to evaluate the extent of the losses. The restoration of the charred houses will be initiated promptly.”
Notably, a mob, under the pretext of blasphemy allegations vandalized several churches and set ablaze homes belonging to the Christian community in Jaranwala, Faisalabad.
Furthermore, the Jaranwala police took action by registering terror cases against over 600 individuals on August 17.
The First Information Report (FIR) detailed that a mob consisting of 500-600 individuals, guided by a group of leaders, “assaulted the Christian community. They intruded into residences and set fire to homes and the church building.”
Punjab police have also arrested two Christian men accused of the desecration of Quran.
Meanwhile, police also arrested a foreigner, CEO of an NGO with the help of the CCTV footage. Police officials are probing his possible role in the incident.
Caretaker PM Kakar distributes cheques
Meanwhile, the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar visited Jaranwala today to express solidarity with the Christian community. He distributed cheques among families affected in Jaranwala incident.
Caretaker PM visited the burnt churches and met the survivors. He extended his support and solidarity to the Christian community.
During his visit, Kakar distributed financial assistance in the form of cheques to the families that were affected by the incident in Jaranwala.
